Join the Real Faces project.....

The Be Real Campaign is looking for people from across the UK to be part of its campaign to tackle negative attitudes towards body image.

The campaign which is in its third year, after being established by YMCA England & Wales and Dove following the Reflections on Body Image report from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Body Image in 2014, is looking for people who want to champion body confidence and represent the campaign on a national level.

To ensure the campaign speaks to and reflects people from all walks of life, the Be Real Campaign is looking for people of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, size, body type and gender to take part in the campaign’s Real Faces project.

Liam Preston, Head of the Be Real Campaign, said:

“Our campaign is about changing attitudes to body image and a crucial part of our work is to advocate for real diversity in the media and advertising industries. But, to achieve that we need to make sure that our campaign represents and reflects people from all walks of life.

“Body confidence is for everyone and we want to show that everybody is unique in their beauty to tackle negative attitudes towards body image.

“Anyone can apply to be a Be Real face, but we’re especially interested to hear from underrepresented groups, including those with disabilities, LGBT+ and the BME communities, as those tend to be less represented in main stream campaigns and advertising and we want to change that.”

To apply to become a 'Be Real face' send a picture to bereal@ymca.org.uk including a short summary (200 words) about yourself and why you want to support our campaign. Deadline for applications is 31 August 2017.
