Be Real Body Confidence Challenge

Posted on Oct 30, 2015

Our Be Real Ambassador Cat Couture is embarking on a 1 month body confidence challenge starting on Sunday 1st November. This blog piece written by Cat tells you more about this challenge, how it came about and invites you to join her.

Lately I’ve been feeling like a bit of a hypocrite. I’m not only a Be Real Campaign Ambassador which is all about feeling body confident from within, I’m also a singer songwriter who focuses on empowerment, self-love and confidence. However lately I haven’t been doing very much self-loving, in fact I’d be more accurate if I chose the words “self-shaming” instead.

I’ve been feeling really low on self-esteem, I don’t like who I see in the mirror, I fail to point out anything beautiful about my body or my personality and the feeling of worthlessness is safe to say feeling a bit overwhelming. To conquer this low body confidence I’ve  come up with a plan:

I am starting a 1 month challenge starting 1st November to get my own “LIKE”!

I'm not only challenging myself - I’m also challenging YOU too ;)

Recently Dove launched an amazing campaign called “No Likes Needed” to encourage girls to realise the only ‘like’ that counts is their own. As a great supporter of this campaign and ambassador to Be Real I will be publishing all of my updates and questions on my twitter using the #BeReal hashtag with #NoLikesNeeded and #NLNChallenge, because I’m definitely going to need you all to help me out on this one. The more we are the mightier we are, and together we can move one step closer to being a body confident nation!

So let’s do this:

1st - 7th November

Every Day

1min listing what we’re grateful for

2mins visualising our future goals being fulfilled and how it feels

Twice a Week

1min being absolutely ridiculous and silly infront of the mirror to make ourselves laugh

Lucky for you, I will research Superfoods that we can start having once a day starting on the 8th November – if you have any ideas / favourite superfoods do let me know!

8th - 14th November

Every Day

1min listing what we’re grateful for  (it’s ok to repeat ourselves)

5min of doing something for our body (yoga, stretching, running, meditating, exercise)

Have 1 superfood a day from the list

Twice a Week

Go au natural for the day, no make-up, no hair products, no sunglasses on the tube – embrace who you are!

1 minute listing why going au natural made you feel great!

15th - 21st November

Every Day

1min listing what we’re grateful for (by now you’ll fully understand why we keep doing this)

2min visualising our future goals being fulfilled and how happy we and our loved ones are

10min of doing something for our body (yoga, stretching, running, meditating, exercise)

Continue to have 1 superfood a day

Twice a Week

Smile at every person you make eye contact with, without being discouraged if someone doesn’t smile back.

Choose one person to give a random act of kindness to (buying someone who is homeless some hot tea, offering your seat on the train to someone, helping someone carry their bags)

22nd - 30th November

Every Day

1min listing what we’re grateful for – you should be fabulous at this by now!

1min listing things we find beautiful about who we are (yes everyday)

15min of doing something for our body (you know the drill)

Have 1 superfood!

Twice a Week

1min being absolutely silly in front of the mirror until we make ourselves laugh

Go au natural for the day, no make-up, no hair products, no sunglasses on the tube – embrace who you are!

I’m so excited to keep you posted on my twitter about how things are going with the November challenge and I really can’t wait to hear from you guys to hear how it’s worked for you and maybe you’ve even changed up some of the tasks! If you have, share share share using #BeReal #NoLikesNeeded and #NLNChallenge, as we all want to know :)

Remember, the goal is: To not need one single “like” from anyone, because we have got our own.
